Monthly Stroll
Every month we organise a monthly get together for a gentle walk through natural surrounding in central Den Haag. This is a lovely chance for anyone interested in finding out more about our courses to have a face to face chat. It is also a perfect way for parents to meet up once their course has finished to support each other as they continue with their birth preparation or after the birth for us to meet the new arrivals. Aquanatal classes
1 hour class of water based exercise with Stephanie an experienced midwife who joins you in the pool for the class (max. of 10 per class).
Particular attention is paid to posture, back, shoulders, abdominal and pelvic floor muscles - important not only during pregnancy and birth but encourages you to stay mindful of these important areas thereafter!
The use of water during (part of) your birthing is discussed and encouraged wherever possible.
Join in from 16 weeks pregnancy onwards, as early as you like.
Sessions cost 45 Euros for five sessions.
Classes are held on Wednesday evenings the Carlton Beach Hotel, Scheveningen.

Background information on why aquanatal sessions are great:
Generally speaking research shows that light to moderate exercise in pregnancy is a very good thing for all pregnant women to do, classes specifically geared for pregnancy are advised (If you are keen to continue your usual class/ sport please seek advice from your instructor about any adjustments you should make).
Exercise is good for our physical and mental well being.
It improves our mobility, general comfort and body image.
Aquanatal is a water based class, it is social, fun and a good preparation for birth.
In chest deep water your body weight is about 40 % of that on land, so it is ideal in pregnancy when we tend to feel quite heavy.
Water based exercise has more toning potential because water has 12 times the resistance of air. Unlike gravity the resistance exerted by water applies in both directions so each movement works two muscle groups.
Aquanatal classes help to build endurance, to limber joints, promote comfort and relaxation through breathing techniques. It is also good for kidney function.
Each class starts with a warm- up to loosen up muscles and avoid strains before moving on to an aerobic section in which the pace increases (different levels for you to choose from), to improve your fitness, strength and stamina.
The class ends with relaxation and a warm down to re-energise you and stop you feeling cold before getting out of the water.
Non swimmers can participate in Aquanatal classes.
If you have particular concerns e.g. Diabetes or overweight please contact me to discuss your needs/ wishes.
Remember to have an aqua reunion at one of the monthly Mindful Birth Strolls so we can welcome the aqua babies!

Active birth workshops
Active Birth workshops are for you and your birth companion:

- Practise the supported positions in which you may choose to birth.

- Make time to bond with your partner and meet other couples in a friendly environment.

- Discussion on the top 10 reasons for active birth.

- Special endorphin releasing massage technique for labour.

- Watch inpsiring footage of different active labours and beautiful births.

- Free introduction/recap on Mindful Birth techniques.

Each workshop lasts for 2.5 hours and is held in Leiden.

Group workshops cost: 50 Euros per couple or 25 Euros per person.
