Liaising with your midwife
I work continuously to create opportunities to raise awareness of HypnoBirthing and the benefits it brings. In particular I give regular talks to interested midwives so that both those working in the community and those on the delivery ward are aware of how they can relate to the HypnoBirthing couple.
Cambridge is lucky to have two midwives Amy Sutton and Siobhan Taylor who work independently from the NHS and can therefore provide women and their families with one-to-one, women-centred care thus guaranteeing continuity of care and carer. This has been shown to reduce women's need for pain relief and to improve birth outcomes. The benefits of independent midwifery are strongly aligned with those of HypnoBirthing and many women who use HypnoBirthing techniques decide to birth at home with independent care.
I am in regular contact with Amy and Siobhan exchanging ideas on how midwives and HypnoBirthing couples can best relate to one another. Any HypnoBirthing couple that would like a midwife who is not just aware of HypnoBirthing but can actively help you best use the techniques might like to consider their services.
